Clay Pot Lid found at House of Imam Ali (AS) & Sayyida Fatima (SA), Madinah

A remarkable old handmade clay pottery fragment/lid, preserved as an object of Islamic devotional heritage.

According to the provenance accompanying the piece, it was discovered around the year 2001  in Madina and was originated from the site traditionally associated with the blessed household of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) and Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra (SA).

The object appears to be the lid or covering of a small earthenware vessel. Its simple form, earthy fabric and naturally aged surface give it the character of traditional hand produced pottery. It has reportedly been carefully preserved since its discovery because of its attributed connection with Ahl al-Bayt, the Household of the Prophet ﷺ.
